Brian Hodson FCA

Brian founded the practice in the 1970's and was active right up until his death on 25 December 2019. Brian trained and qualified with Deloittes in Manchester before embarking on a business career working as a Finance Director for a number of large organisations. He set the foundation stones for us to build upon.

Matthew Hodson BSc, FCA

Matthew provides ongoing support for small and growing businesses and has specialist knowledge of company audit work, taxation and corporate services, including extensive experience of business planning and cash flow forecasting. He has a particular interest in the taxation aspects of family companies and the mitigation of clients' overall burden of taxation. Matthew trained with Baker Tilly in Yorkshire before joining the family practice. Matthew heads up the practice Charity division offering accounts and audit services as well as general charity advice. He enjoys walking, cycling and rugby and is currently a trustee of a local charity.

Mark Hodson MAAT

Mark provides consultancy services to Hodson & Co. He specialises in accounts preparation for sub-contractors, sole traders and partnerships. He has considerable experience and expertise in personal taxation and VAT matters. Mark is a keen footballer and plays left back for St Mary’s F.C.

Mei-Yee ACCA

Mei qualified in 2013. Mei manages a small portfolio of clients and her role includes audits, limited company accounts, corporation tax returns and personal tax returns. Mei looks after our portfolio of dental clients, dental associates, hygenists and dental labs. Mei also has extensive experience and knowledge of 'Xero' online accounts software and is our in-house expert. Outside of work Mei loves to travel.

Mandy Arena

Mandy is our payroll manager. Her role includes the processing of weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls. Mandy specialises in the operation of the CIS scheme and she advises clients on a number of payroll and employment related issues. She is also the voice of our own friendly support helpline!

Lisa-Marie Searle ACCA

Lisa joined the team in 2012, training for AAT and then ACCA, qualifying in 2019. Lisa manages a small portfolio of clients, provides software training for clients on a variety of systems and is our in-house expert on QuickBooks. When not at work, Lisa enjoys swimming and is a committee member of a local charity.

Olly Buckley

Olly joinined the team in August 2014 after completing his Business Studies degree at university. Olly is a trainee studying for ACCA. Outside of work Olly can be seen down the gym  - boxing. If he's not boxing he will find some physical activity to maintain his drive and motivation.

Alex Owen

Alex joined the team in August 2015 studying towards ACCA after obtaining a 2:1 degree in Accounting and Finance. Alex is a keen sportsman and also gives up some of his spare time volunteering.

Jenny Carroll AAT

Jenny manages some of our larger clients book-keeping requirements on Sage. Jenny is our in-house Sage accounts expert.

Emma Whittaker

Emma joined us in March 2017 and provides invaluable adminstrative support carrying out various administration duties, dealing with HMRC, Companies House, client contact, social media and much more.

Tom Naylor-Smith

Tom joined the firm in 2017 after completing his A levels at Worthing College and is studying for AAT.

Oliver Pattison

Oliver completed his degree at Loughborough University and is our first trainee to embark on the ICAEW 'Trailblazer' towards ACA qualification. Oliver is also a County standard badminton player. He joined us in April 2018.

Jamie Ali 

Jamie started working for us in October 2018 and is studying towards ACCA qualification. Jamie completed his history degree at The University of Sheffield and is an 'ex-rugby' player.

Hannah Tang 

Hannah joined Hodson & Co in April 2019 after completed an Economics degree at London School of Economics. Hannah has also joined the ICAEW 'Trailblazer' route towards ACA qualification.

Pam Stewart

Pam Stewart joined our payroll team in June 2021 and has brought a wealth of experience after working in a large regional practice.

James Caswall

James Caswall joined us in September 2021 as an AAT trainee after working in an estate agency for a short period!

Charlie Meehan

Charlie Meehan joined in July 2022 after working for a large regional practice and will be training towards ACA qualification.
